Hyundai IONIQ 5 vs Volkswagen ID.4 Comparison
Zack and Andrea of Motormouth have put the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Volkswagen ID.4 head to head in their comparison of the week.
This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric crossover versus the all-new Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV.
Both EV’s offer RWD and AWD options, the IONIQ 5 has up to 488 km/303 miles of EV range and up to 320 horsepower.
The ID.4 has up to 400 km/260 miles of range and up to 302 horsepower.
The IONIQ 5 is 2 inches longer than the ID.4. They both offer similar front legroom but the Hyundai has almost 2 inches more second row legroom. The ID.4 wins in overall cargo capacity and space behind the second row.
These electric vehicles have a modern design with flush door handles, LED headlights and LED taillights, standard 19” wheels and available 20” wheels.
A heat pump is standard on the VW but for the Hyundai; it’s available one up from the base model. Unfortunately, in the US a heat pump is not available on the ID.4.
In Canada, both electric vehicles come with packages to get extra features like a fixed panoramic glass roof, power front seats with memory function, a leatherette interior and a power tailgate. They have similar standard features like heated front cloth seats, a heated steering wheel, Apple Carplay and Android Auto and a wireless charger.
The IONIQ 5 comes standard with a 12.3” digital driver display and a 12.3” touchscreen. The ID.4 has a standard 5.3” digital gauge cluster and a 10” touchscreen with an available larger 12.3” screen. The Volkswagen does not have ventilated front seats or heated rear seats like the Hyundai.
