The BMW iX3 is a battery electric compact luxurycrossover SUV manufactured by BMW. It was presented at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show in April as the battery electric version of the BMW X3 (G01).[1] Built on the same platform as the conventional X3 with only subtle changes, it is the third car of the electric-focused BMW i family and the first battery electric BMW SUV.

What the critics have to say…
It’s for people who want a crossover not for off-roading but because of the high driving position and big boot. That’ll be most buyers of crossovers then, especially electric crossovers, and especially in China and the US.
Top Gear
HOW DOES IT DRIVE?
Precise steering and a sporty suspension help this vehicle handle like a sports sedan. It’s fun to drive, but while its ride is comfortable, it may be a bit firmer than some luxury car shoppers would want. The regenerative brakes operate smoothly, which is not a given among EVs.

IS IT RELIABLE AND HIGH QUALITY?
Is the BMW iX3 Reliable?
As of this writing, the BMW iX3 not been scored for predicted reliability.
BMW iX3 Warranty
3 year unlimited mileage warranty on the battery as well as 8 year 100,000 miles warranty
HOW COMFORTABLE IS IT?
The ride is pretty firm for a family SUV, though the excellent damping takes the edge off any rough surfaces or potholes. It is quiet though; perhaps not quite as hushed as an Audi e-tron, but a relaxing place to spend time.

WHAT IS THE INTERIOR LIKE?
But when the cabin is as impressive as the X3’s, few buyers are going to find that disappointing. It’s incredibly well finished with plush materials and lots of well-thought-through features – although fans of the minimalist approach would be better looking at a Tesla Model X.
Hey Car
WHAT IS THE TECHNOLOGY LIKE?
There’s a good deal of safety tech, which you’ll read about below, but, as with any new car, there’s also a bewildering list of connected tech, online services and suchlike to amuse, navigate and, in some cases, utterly bamboozle you.
Both models currently available come with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, this including things like a crisp 10.25-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, BMW’s iDrive and BMW’s online services which covers all manner of Apps for everything from where to charge up, or find a hotel room.
On top of that there’s the Connected Package Professional, which covers things like connected music, smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, real-time traffic information and maps. These services are free on purchase, but many revert to an annual subscription after a period three years.

WHAT IS THE CARGO SPACE LIKE?
If you’re in the market for an electric car with a big boot, the iX3 should place a big tick in that box. It might have 40 litres less luggage room than the standard X3 but you’re only going to notice the difference if you compare them side-by-side. It’s actually got a slightly bigger boot than the plug-in hybrid xDrive30e.

IS THIS VEHICLE A GOOD VALUE?
But, even before you get anywhere near an iX3 you’re gonna want £60k. Even if the powertrain is impressive, do you really want to stiff so much wedge for something that looks like any other X3? Jag’s i-Pace, Audi’s e-Tron (or even the smaller Q4 e-Tron), Hyundai’s Ioniq 5, Kia’s EV6 and Ford’s Mach-E are all bespoke designs that compete so closely with the iX3 (and sometimes for less cash) that the case for buying one falls apart.
Car Magazine UK
IS THE BMW iX3 A GOOD VEHICLE?
The flexibility, speedy charging and long range offered by its powertrain get it off to a great start, while also offering a roomy interior and impressive build quality. So the iX3, along with BMW’s other upcoming EVs, show that there is plenty to be optimistic about.

SHOULD I BUY THE BMW iX3?
It’s at the more enjoyable end of the spectrum to drive, much like its X3 internal combustion-powered relations. But unlike them – and a number of its electric SUV alternatives – the iX3 is only available with rear-wheel drive. That might be something to consider if you live at the end of a farm track, but the reality is the traction is good enough with just rear-wheel drive that a typical iX3 buyer won’t miss four-wheel drive. At least until it snows….

THE FINAL WORD
All the controls feel fairly robust – even flicking the indicator stalk gives off a made-to-last vibe (insert joke about BMW drivers here). From the climate control dials to the air vents and glove box handle, everything you touch feels totally premium.
