2022 Kia EV6 review // The answer to high gas prices??
Andrea and Zack have produced another excellent review. They are great at covering what matters, even the little details like the door handles. Check it out.
The EV6 is Kia’s first vehicle to be based on the company’s dedicated new platform for battery electric vehicles.
With its clamshell hood, flushed door handles, LED rear lamps, a wing-type spoiler design and 19” wheels, available 20”, it is sure to be a standout on the road. Our test model is the top GT-Line in Yacht Blue and it has a unique look compared to other standard models. It comes with a different front and rear bumper, side character line molding, body colour wheel arches instead of black, auto flush door handles which can be deployed or retracted automatically and 20” wheels.
The entry-level EV6 RWD standard range comes with a 58 kWh battery. It has 167 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque with 373 km/232 miles of EV range. The RWD Long Range model with a larger 77.4 kWh battery has 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, it offers the most range at 499 km/310 miles. The AWD Long Range model has the most power with 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque, it gets 441 km/274 miles of EV range.
In Canada, The GT-Line Package 1 and Package 2 are both AWD Long Range models. In the US, the GT-Line has both RWD and AWD Long Range options. The GT-Line is not to be confused with the more powerful eGT model, which is coming later this year.
The EV6 uses an eco-friendly heat pump to recycle heat given off by the vehicle’s electronic components and uses it to optimize battery pack temperature. It is standard one up from the base model on the RWD Long Range model and AWD Long Range model in the US. The EV6 offers a driver-focused cockpit with the start button and dial shifter in the optimal position.
It has a premium quality interior with plenty of storage space, curved dual panoramic 12.3” screens, available ambient lighting and an available 14-speaker Meridian audio system as well as a sunroof which opens.
Kia has incorporated sustainable design elements in this EV from the use of more than 100 recycled bottles for interior parts, 100% LED lighting and the exclusive use of vegan leather. The centre console is well organized with different storage locations and a large open tray to put larger items. Kia has come up with a brilliant design for the EV6 integrating infotainment and air conditioning control keys. With the touch of a button you can switch back and forth improving the intuitiveness of the cockpit design.
Connect your Apple Watch or personal device to your vehicle via the Kia Connect App to manage charging, set cabin temperatures and energy usage.
